Yuvraj Singh has been named in India’s squad for the first Test match against England in Ahmedabad.
The 30 year-old has not played Test cricket since having treatment for lung cancer last year. Yuvraj made a successful comeback to cricket last month when he played for India in the World Twenty20 Cup in Sri Lanka.
In 37 Test matches Yuvraj has scored 1,775 runs at an average of 34.80. He has also represented his country in 274 one-day internationals.
In previous Test matches, England have targeted Yuvraj with short pitched bowling and it is likely that England will try and use the same tactic again.
India have also recalled off-spinner Harbhajan Singh into a squad that contains three spinners. The first Test match begins on 15th November in Ahmedabad.
Stuart Meaker has been called up by England as cover for Steven Finn after injuring his ankle during England’s first warm up match.
India’s squad in full: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Murali Vijay
