Sussex beat Kent by 9 wickets
Sussex qualified for the semi-finals of this year’s CB40 competition after Luke Wright smashed an unbeaten century in helping his team to victory over Sussex at Canterbury.
Batting first, Kent posted what looked at the time a competitive 210-5 from their 40 overs. Brendan Nash top scored for the home side with 51 not out. However, the total was made to look very light when Luke Wright and Matt Prior batted after the break.
Sussex brought up victory with over 10 overs to spare for the loss of just one wicket. Chris Nash was the only man to fall when he was bowled by Darren Stevens for 20.
After Nash departed it was all one-way traffic as Wright and Prior pounced on anything loose from Kent’s bowlers. Wright hit 101 of just 90 balls and Prior showed his class with an unbeaten 78.
Sussex will now face Hampshire at Hove, with Lancashire playing against Warwickshire in the other semi-final at Old Trafford.
