Worcestershire move back to New Road

Worcestershire have announced that tomorrow’s County Championship match against Surrey will be played at New Road as originally planned despite last week moving the fixture to Kidderminster.

It was only last week that half of the ground was under water on the pavilion side of the ground. However, thanks to a new drainage system at New Road the water has moved through faster than first anticipated.

The match see’s the return of Kevin Pietersen to first class cricket after a spell with the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. Pietersen will be hoping to gain some form ahead of the first Test match of the summer against West Indies at Lord’s next Thursday.

Surrey go into the match without seamers Jade Dernbach and Stuart Meaker who have been selected for the England Lions in a match at Northampton against West Indies.
