Worcestershire are looking into re-signing Saeed Ajmal for next seasons Friends Life Twenty20 campaign.

Ajmal played as Worcestershire’s overseas player in 2011, and was a major reason why the county avoided relegation from division one of the County Championship.

The Pakistani off-spinner took a career best 7-55 against England in their recent Test victory in Dubai. Ajmal has a good reputation in Twenty20 cricket, and is seen as a specialist at the back end of an innings.

Speaking of the potential signing Worcestershie chief exectutive David Leatherdale said: “We have put an offer on the table. The signs are that Saeed is very keen to come back and has verbally agreed terms with us for the Twenty20.”

Worcestershire start their Twenty20 campaign in mid-June and if Ajmal signs he is expected to be available for the duration of the tournament.
