Warwickshire CCC have failed in their attempt to overturn the eight points that they were deducted for the dangerous pitch that was played on earlier in the month at Edgbaston against Worcestershire.

A three-man appeal panel ruled that the deduction will go ahead after the midlands based club had argued that the umpires, had not carried out correct procedures, by not reporting it to Lords.

During the game Vikram Solanki was taken to hospital after being hit on the head by a delivery from Warwickshire fast bowler Boyd Rankin.

With a Test match due to take place on August 10th the ground staff will be working hard to rectify any further problems on what is normally an excellent place to play cricket.
