Warne to sign with Melbourne Stars

November 4, 2011

Shane Warne is expected in the next few days to announce his return to competitive cricket with The Melbourne Stars in this summer’s Twenty20 Big Bash League.

It is understood that Warne 42, will be available for all seven Melbourne Stars matches.

The Stars are to play their home matches at the MCG where Warne is a cult hero. It is on this ground in 2006 where Warne took his 700th Test match wicket, dismissing Andrew Strauss on day one of the Boxing Day Test.

Warne, who recently got engaged to Elizabeth Hurley has been on a fitness campaign that has been more rigorous then when he was playing International cricket.

Warne retired from International cricket in 2007, but continued playing in the Indian Premier League for the Rajasthan Royals.

Shane Warne is a global superstar and if the signing goes through as expected, expect a huge crowd back at the MCG to witness his return.
