The ECB today announced the schedule for next summer’s Ashes Test matches, and it was revealed that Trent Bridge will host the first Test match.
It has been tradition in recent times for the first Ashes Test to take place at Lord’s. The home of cricket will now host the second match of the five match series. The match at Trent Bridge will get underway on 10th July, and will closely be followed by the match at Lord’s starting on 18th July.
An Ashes Test returns to Old Trafford in 2013, after Lancashire missed out in 2009, the last time Australia were in town. The ground in Manchester is the third match of the series and should provide the quickest of all the pitches.
The players will then travel up to The Emirates in Durham for the penultimate match. It will be the first time that Durham has hosted a Test match between the two old rivals.
As per norm, The Kia Oval will be waiting for the players in the final match where England will be hoping to lift the urn for a third successive time on this famous ground in London.
