Mitchell Starc who signed for Yorkshire last week is having to fly back to Australia after running into problems with his visa.

The left-arm fast bowler was supposed to be making his County Championship debut for Yorkshire today after arriving in England on Saturday.

The 22 year-old was kept at Heathrow for more then four hours by authorities before being told he must head home. Yorkshire are blaming Cricket Australia for incorrectly filling out his visa application form.

Starc highlighted his frustrations on the social media site Twitter by saying: “Visa issue. Incorrect communication from Aus. Will be straight back to UK ASAP once sorted. In time for next Yorkshire game.”

Starc is hoping the experience he gains in England will benefit him later in his international career. Starc has so far played four Test matches and has taken 10 wickets.
