Third Test, Lord’s
Day 4: South Africa 309 & 351 v England 315 & 16-2

South Africa look set for victory at Lord’s in the third Test match that will ensure a 2-0 series victory over England.

Needing 346 to win in the final innings, England start day five on 16-2 after Vernon Philander removed Alastair Cook (3) and Andrew Strauss (1) both lbw.

Earlier in the day Hashim Amla put South Africa in control with a well-made 121 from 205 balls. He was given great support by AB de Villiers (43), and Vernon Philander (35) as they made England toil on a hot day in North London.

Steven Finn 4-74 was the pick of the England bowlers, bowling with pace and aggression at all the South African batsmen.

If England are to get anywhere near their target today it will take some special batting, but they will know that Lord’s in recent times has remained good for batting throughout the course of Test matches.

Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott will be the men that will begin the challenge this morning.
