Somerset go top with defeat of Durham

Somerset 400-9 d & 152-5 beat Durham 384 & 167 by five wickets

Somerset went to the top of the division one of the County Championship after a 5 wicket victory over Durham at Taunton.

Chasing 152 for victory on the final day of the match the home side found themselves 17-2 with star batsman Nick Compton falling for just 8. However, the innings recovered thanks to 73 from Arul Suppiah as Somerset reached their target with the loss of 5 wickets.

This short run chase was set up when Durham had been skittled for just 167 in the third innings of the match. Young Irish spinner George Dockrell was the hero for the home side taking 6-29. Ian Blackwell top scored for the visitors with 38 against his former club.
