Former England bowler Ajmal Shazhad has signed a three year contract with Nottinghamshire.
After being told he was free to leave Yorkshire, Shazhad spent much of the season on loan at neighbours Lancashire. Nottinghamshire were looking to strengthen their seam bowling ranks this summer and Shazhad became an obvious choice for the County based at Trent Bridge.
Shazhad has featured for England in one Test match, 11 one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals. His last game in an England shirt was as far back as March 2011.
Shazhad became the first British-born Asian to play for Yorkshire as a teenager in 2004 during a limited overs match.
Speaking about his move to Nottingham, the 27 year-old said: “As a seam bowler, there is no better ground to play at than Trent Bridge. Hopefully, playing alongside so many England players and performing well for Notts will put me back in the limelight.”
