Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is considering his Test match future after being left out of the third Test match against India.
Australia’s vice-captain was not the only player to suffer as Mitchell Johnson, Usman Khawaja and James Pattinson were also removed from the side after failing to provide a presentation to coach Mickey Arthur.
Arthur had asked each member of the squad to present three points about how the team could improve after the two heavy defeats they suffered in the first two Test matches.
Watson was left distraught at the decision and has left the tour to be at home with his pregnant wife. Johnson, Khawaja and Pattinson have remained on the tour and will hope to play in the fourth Test match.
Speaking after the event Watson said “There are lot more important things in life – I certainly do love playing cricket and that passion is still there and I feel like I’m in the prime years of my cricket career.”
Australia are close to becoming the laughing stock of world cricket after Arthur’s decision to leave players out of a Test match for not doing their homework. With the Ashes looming ever closer, it is hard to see this Australian team put up a fight against England especially if they were to lose Watson on top of Ponting and Hussey.
