Second Test, Trent Bridge
Day 4: England 428 & 111-1 beat West Indies 370 & 165 by nine wickets
England wrapped up a series victory over the West Indies today after cruising to a nine-wicket win in the second Test at Trent Bridge.
West Indies resumed day 4 struggling on 61-6 still trailing England by 5 runs. However, yet again Marlon Samuels took the fight to England with 76 not out in helping the West Indies add a further 104 runs before they were all out after lunch for 165.
The hero’s with the ball for England were Time Bresnan 4-37 and James Anderson 4-43 as they used reverse swing on what was a tired Trent Bridge surface.
Needing just 109 for victory England eased to their target with the loss of just Andrew Strauss for 45. Alastair Cook (43*) and Jonathan Trott (17*) knocked off the winning runs.
Tim Bresnan was named man of the match having taken 8 wickets in the game. Bresnan has now played 13 Tests for England and England have won all 13 of these games.
The teams now travel to Edgbaston where England will be looking for a whitewash before they take on Australia in a five match ODI series.
