Tune in tomorrow for the highly anticipated ‘Big Clash’ between the Sydney Thunder & Melbourne Stars.
Kevin Pietersen’s Stars and Jason Roy’s Thunder has the recipe for possibly the most entertain match-up of BBL4 so far and although they’re at different ends of their careers both still have strong ambitions to play for their country. If Roy’s continues his impressive form he should be back in the national side before too long. Pietersen on the other hand looks to be left out to dry and a chance of a return is looking more and more unlikely.
Both players spent the 2014 season playing together at Surrey attracting media attention on their similar stroke-play, confidence at the crease and ability to take games by the scruff of the neck. Surrey got to the T20 finals led by Roy’s box office power hitting at the top, falling at the semi final stage to eventual winners the Birmingham Bears.
KP’s year has certainly be eventful and has finally found his feet again in Australia and looks to be enjoying his cricket, possibly because he’s said what he wanted to say through his book, and the odd carefully choreographed interview lifting some of the weight off his shoulders.
We can’t wait for two of the games biggest hitters going head to head for the first time.
Here is a quick look at what they can do….
Kevin Pietersen –
Jason Roy -
Aiden Blizzard, Sydney Thunder’s other big hitter has known Roy’s raw talent for years after spending a season at Reigate Priory Cricket Club in the summer of 2010. Spare a thought for Surrey league bowlers turning up on a Saturday with these two opening the batting!!
