Ramprakash in hot water with ECB

Former England batsman Mark Ramprakash has received three penalty points after breaching the ECB’s disciplinary code.

The incident took place during Surrey’s LV County Championship match Worcestershire at The Kia Oval which finished in a draw. The prolific batsman was reported by the standing umpires Nigel Llong and Geoff Evans for a Level One breach of the code.

A level one breach is determined by the use of language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or making an obscene gesture.

Ramprakash has now six points on his record after he was penalised last year during a County Championship match against Gloucestershire. If Ramprakash were to accumulate a further 3 points, this would lead to automatic suspension.

Surrey start a County Championship match against Durham at the Kia Oval tomorrow and Ramprakash as expected has been named in the squad.

There is also a place in the squad for returning batsman Jacques Rudolf who missed Surrey’s last fixture because he was attending a funeral back in South Africa.
