Day two at the Kia Oval in the LV County Championship match against Glamorgan, saw a special milestone achieved by a special batsman at the ripe old age of 41.

Mark Ramprakash dispatched a delivery from Will Owen to the extra cover boundary ensuring he passed 35,000 runs. Whilst Ramprakash would have been disappointed with his return in his 52 Test matches, this volume of first class runs is a phenomenal effort for a skilful, determined character.

The match itself has been a struggle for the home side, as they remain 179 runs a drift of Glamorgan with just four first innings wickets in hand, with Ramprakash back in the pavilion for well-made 67.

Earlier in the day Alviro Petersen’s double-century had helped put Glamorgan in command.

Surrey’s coach Chris Adams will be hopeful of some late order resistance on day three if they are to have any chance of winning this match.
