Olympics comes to New Road

On May 24th New Road has been chosen as the venue for the Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration.

The division one club will host the torch’s overnight stay in the city with music and performances to celebrate the occasion. The torch will be a symbol that celebrates the culture and heritage of the city.

Speaking of the event chief exectutive David Leatherdale said: “We are immensely excited to be able to play a part in bringing the Olympic spirit to Worcester, and with our experience of hosting major events we look forward to welcoming local people to what promises to be an unforgettable evening of entertainment.”

New Road will be the first place in the West Midlands that the torch will visit on day six of what is a seventy day tour of the country.
