Former Pakistan leg-spinner Mustaq Ahmed is joining the Surrey coaching staff on a short-term contract.

The 41 year-old will spend a month at the London based club starting on 20th June. Mustaq spent many years with Chris Adams the head coach at Surrey in their playing days at Sussex.

Adams told BBC London: “Mushy is a good friend who I’ve known a long time. When I was offered the opportunity I had no hesitation. He is the most incredible and inspirational man to be around.”

Mustaq has claimed more than 1,400 first class wickets and in 2003 and 2006 he took over 100 wickets for Sussex. Mustaq represented Pakistan in 52 Test matches and has recently been working with the England team as a specialist spin bowling coach.
