Tim MurtaghIreland named their 14-man squad for next month’s ICC World Twenty20 qualifying tournament in the UAE, and there was no place for Middlesex opening bowler Tim Murtagh despite having recently become eligible after obtaining an Irish passport.

With Niall O’ Brien unavailable due to commitments with the Bangladesh Premier League there was a place for Rory McCann in the squad.

Speaking about the squad, Chairman of selectors Ross McCollum said: “We felt that the squad that had been preparing together all through the winter deserved the opportunity to gain qualification.”
