Morgan signs new deal at Middlesex

England batsman Eoin Morgan has signed a new long-term contract with his county Middlesex.

Middlesex Chief Executive Vinny Codrington has not confirmed the duration of the contract but has stated Morgan will be a Middlesex player for a substantial period of time.

Speaking about gaining Morgan’s signature Codrington said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Eoin has chosen to commit his long-term future to Middlesex. With the exceptional talent he possesses, Eoin is quite rightly regarded as one of the most gifted batsmen in world cricket today.”

Morgan is currently with the England squad in Mumbai as they prepare for the first Test match against India. The left-hander has recently signed a central contract with the ECB after impressing in recent limited over games for his adopted country.

Morgan has featured in 16 Test matches for England averaging 30.43. He has made a name for himself in 50 over playing in 86 matches with an impressive average of 40.70.

Middlesex will be hoping that when Morgan is available for the county he can help them challenge for next year’s County Championship after finishing a respectable third in 2012.
