Eoin Morgan has been appointed vice-captain of England’s Twenty20 side.

Not only this, but he could be in line to lead England in Saturday’s match at Bristol against Sri Lanka, as Stuart Broad is fighting to be fit.

Broad bruised his heel on the final day of the Test match against Sri Lanka at The Rose Bowl. It will be a big blow for Stuart Broad if he has to sit out, as this will be his first game in charge of the side. He also suffered a lack of form in the Test matches which has prompted debate to whether his place is secure within the side.

Morgan’s selection as vice-captain further underlines the way in which his one-day cricket is viewed and valued by the ECB.
