Eoin Morgan will not face any disciplinary action from his county after missing last night’s CB40 match with Lancashire after being stuck on a train from London to Manchester causing him to arrive after the match had started.
Most of the Middlesex players travelled to North-West England the night before in preparation for the match, but the 25 year-old decided he would catch a train the following morning.
During the afternoon, Morgan tweeted “Just the 7 hours to Manchester… not sure the train is an option any more!!”
Middlesex said that they were aware that Morgan was travelling up on the same day of the match and because of this have stated that Morgan will not be punished.
Middlesex went on to lose the match to Lancashire by 7 wickets in what was a rain affected game. Middlesex remain in second place in group A and still have a reasonable chance of making the semi-finals.
It’s fair to say the 25 Irishman will not be using this method of transport in the near future.
