CB40 group A, Lord’s
Middlesex 350/6 beat Lancashire 183 by 167 runs

Eoin Morgan blazed a 49 ball century as Middlesex crushed Lancashire at Lord’s yesterday in their CB40 group A match.

Middlesex batted first and put on a sensational display thanks to Morgan and his fellow Irishman Paul Stirling. Both men made blistering centuries in what was great entertainment for the few spectators that had braved the cold weather.

Stirling made 119 off 99 balls, but it was Morgan that played the really eye catching innings. Morgan made 116 from just 54 balls in an innings that included 6 fours and 11 sixes. It was a timely reminder to the England selectors ahead of the squad announcement for England’s ODI series against West Indies.

Lancashire never looked in the game with the bat as they lost wickets at regular intervals in trying to keep up with the steep required rate. Paul Horton top scored for the visitors with 49. Steven Crook was the pick of the Middlesex bowlers with 3-26 from 6 overs. Lancashire were dismissed in 35 overs for just 183.
