Australian duo Brett Lee and Shane Watson have returned home after suffering calf injuries and will miss the remainder of Australia’s tour of England.
Both men sustained the injuries during England’s victory in the fourth ODI in Durham on Saturday where England sealed the series 3-0 after a comfortable victory.
It is thought that both men are unlikely to be fit for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan. Mitchell Starc has been called up as cover for Australia’s final match of the tour when they take on England in a day/night match at Old Trafford hoping to salvage some pride.
England have now won nine completed one-day matches in a row and will be hoping to make this 10 in Manchester on Tuesday. England have released Jonny Bairstow from their squad and he will be available for Yorkshire’s LV County Championship Division Two match against Hampshire, starting on Wednesday.
