Lancashire County Cricket Club have announced the signing of Naqaash Tahir for the 2012 season.

Tahir was released by Warwickshire at the end of the 2011 season. The right-arm seamer spent 10 years at Edgbaston, and in that time featured in 56 first-class games. Tahir has taken 139 first-class wickets at a respectable average of 29.

The 28 year-old made his first-class debut for Warwickshire in 2004, but was in and out of the first xi ever since. Tahir has suffered injuries throughout his career which also restricted the volume of first team cricket he played at Warwickshire.

Speaking of the arrival of Tahir, Peter Moores, Lancashire’s coach said: “He is a very talented swing bowler who will provide the necessary depth to an already strong seam attack, which is essential for the demands of a first-class county season.”

Lancashire will be hoping for more success in 2012 after winning the County Championship in 2011. The county will begin their season in Dubai where they take on an MCC xi captained by Mark Ramprakash on 27th March.
