Second one-day international, Kochi
India 285-6 (50 overs) beat England 158 (36 overs) by 127 runs

India dominated the second ODI against England with a resounding 127 run victory in front of 60,000 fans in Kochi.

Batting first, India posted an above par score of 285-6 from their allotted 50 overs. England started well when Gautam Gambhir (4) was clean bowled by Jade Dernbach, and Ajinkya Rahane (8) was dismissed in similar fashion by Steven Finn.

India began to rebuild their innings but they were kept in check by James Tredwell who bowled 10 tidy overs in the middle, conceding just 48 runs and picking up the important wicket of Yuvraj Singh for 32.

MS Dhoni top scored for the home side with a match turning 72 from 66 balls, and he was well supported by Jadeja who finished the innings in style with 61 from just 37 balls. India’s score of 285/6 looked a fine effort on a slow wicket. Jade Dernbach and Chris Woakes proved expensive for England at the death.

In reply England stuttered to 158 all out. Kevin Pietersen top scored for the tourists with 42, but when he fell, England’s chances went with him. R.Ashwin took 3-39 from 7 overs and Jadeja picked up 2/12 as England were unable to adapt to the turning ball as the rate increased.

With the series tied at 1-1 the sides move onto Ranchi for the third ODI on Saturday.
