India 353 & 262-5 beat New Zealand 365 and 248 by 5 wickets

India defeated New Zealand in Bangalore by 5 wickets helping the home side to a 2-0 Test series victory.

Virat Kohli starred with a century in the first innings followed up by an even more important 51 not out in the second innings. Needing 262 for victory in the fourth innings of the match India found themselves in trouble at 155-5 when Kohli was joined by his captain MS Dhoni.

The pair put on 96 to see India over the line sparking wild celebrations in the crowd. Dhoni played in his usual aggressive manor as he finished 48 not out from just 60 balls hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Jeetan Patel was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with 3-68 but he was unable to break the match winning partnership.

The series victory will give India a boost of confidence ahead of England’s four match series starting in November.
