India 236-9 (50 overs) tie with Sri Lanka 236-9 (50 overs)

Another exhilarating game in Adelaide saw MS Dhoni rescue a tie for India by hitting 3 runs off the final ball of the game as Sri Lanka are still yet to register a win in the CB series.

Sri Lanka, batting first posted a moderate 236-9 from their 50 overs, largely thanks to a well-made 81 from Dinesh Chandimal. The right-hander was the only Sri Lankan batsman to reach a half century in what was a below par effort with the bat.

Vinay Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for India with 3-46 from his allotted 10 overs.

India would have felt confident of chasing down this total with some ease, but faltered through their innings. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals, despite Gautum Gambhir making 91 at the top of the order. Yet again the chase in the final overs revolved around India’s captain MS Dhoni, who was struggling for support from his team mates.

With 3 needed off the last ball Dhoni sliced Malinga over cover and scampered back for three leaving the match ending on a tie.

Sri Lanka gained their first points of the CB series today, but they will be aware that their next few games are must win matches if they are to harbour hopes of reaching the finals.
