World Cup Predictor: 6 of 10

Here are 5 & 6 on our Welivecricket all-star list!

Rory Burns

Rory Joseph Burns (born 26 August 1990) is an English cricketer. Burns is a left-handed batsman who fields as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Epsom, Surrey and educated at Whitgift School and Cardiff Metropolitan University (UWIC). A graduate of the Surrey Academy and Banstead CC, Burns has formed a strong opening partnership with Zafar Ansari and was an ever present throughout the summer of 2014 and repaid the faith shown in him by producing over 1,000 first-class runs. The LV= County Championship Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2013, Burns is also very capable behind the stumps, although has found his opportunities to don the gloves limited by Surrey’s plethora of options in that position. Burnsy when he hasn’t got his white’s on is mainly found in the gym or the nets up at the Oval, his appetite for being physically fit and ready for the summer is second to none. He is also very much the life and soul of the place being the ring leader for any dressing room banter and a pretty good DJ in the gym! This fella has a big year ahead of him for Surrey and a bright future in the game!

Zafar Ansari

Zafar Shahaan Ansari (born 10 December 1991) is an English cricketer who plays for Surrey County Cricket Club. Zafar is richly talented. He excels at music and school but cricket is his chosen path. Having come through the Surrey academy system as a left-arm-spinning allrounder he signed a full contract before the 2011 season after making his first-team debut in the CB40 the previous summer. His first notable outing of 2011 came when, while playing for Cambridge University against Surrey, he dismissed Kevin Pietersen on his way to 5 for 33. Championship cricket is where Ansari has made his biggest impact. He has emerged as an opening batsman of guts and old-fashioned defensive solidity. In 2014, he scored 1000 first-class runs. His left-arm spin is used primarily on wearing pitches in the second innings. Add in his sprightly fielding, and Ansari is a cricketer of resourcefulness and unusual maturity. Already, he has been touted as a future Surrey captain. Keep your eyes on this young man in 2015! Away from Cricket Zaf is sneaking off to Uni to continue his studies. He is a very pleasant young man with an incredible passion for cricket. He is also quietly confident of his talents which complements his very professional attitude, this is bound to leave him in good stead for the future. The only thing not in Zaf’s control is his long locks and good job too as he might lose all his power like Samson did along time ago! (Jealous of the Barnet)
