Former England bowler Matthew Hoggard has signed a one year extension to his Leicestershire contract keeping him at the county until the end of the 2013 season.

The Leicestershire captain joined the club in 2010 after leaving Yorkshire. In the time at his new county Hoggard has taken 83 first-class wickets and led the side to FLT20 glory in 2011 when they beat Somerset in the final.

Hoggard is currently sitting on the side-lines after dislocating a finger in a training session. The swing bowler had a long career with England and claimed 248 Test wickets in this time. His most memorable moment in England colours was in 2005 when England defeated Australia for the first time in 18 years.

Speaking about his contract at Leicestershire Hoggard said: ‚ÄúThese are vibrant times at the club and I am pleased to be a part of what is happening at Grace Road. We have some talented youngsters here and I am excited about the prospect of their development.”
