Henriques signs for Glamorgan

Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques has signed for Glamorgan for the first part of the 2012 season.

Marcus North was due to arrive in Wales as Glamorgan’s overseas, but in a recent domestic match in Australia, North broke his finger, and this combined with his wife giving birth to their second child has meant that North will arrive in England five weeks into the new season.

Henriques, 25, has played two one-day internationals and a twenty20 match for Australia. Glamorgan’s head coach, Matthew Mott had previously worked with Henriques in New South Wales where Henriques plays domestically.

Speaking about Henriques arrival, Mott said: “Given the probability of bowler-friendly conditions, we have opted for an all-rounder, which will provide us with some additional options as we look to start the season in a positive manner.”

In other news, Glamorgan have been looking into the possible signing of Mitchell Johnson for this year’s Friends Life Twenty20 competition.
