Gloucestershire sign Williamson and Muchall

Gloucestershire have announced the signings of New Zealand international Kane Williamson and batsman Paul Muchall.

Williamson re-joins the county as their overseas player for the first half of this season. The 21 year-old spent the summer in Bristol in 2011 when he scored 831 runs in 23 County Championship innings. The right-handed batsmen has featured in 12 Test matches, and in the most recent Test he scored an unbeaten century helping New Zealand draw with South Africa in Wellington.

Paul Muchall was awarded a two year contract with the county after impressing John Bracewell whilst on trial. The 25 year-old is in the frame to start Gloucestershire’s first LV County Champion match of the season tomorrow against Essex.

Gloucestershire will be looking for promotion to division 1 of the County Championship in 2012.
