Glamorgan have signed the former Zimbabwe batsman Murray Goodwin on a one-year contract. Goodwin, 39, spent 12 years at Sussex before announcing today that he was to be joining the Welsh county.
Goodwin scored more than 12,000 runs in all competitions for his former county and was a key part in the success of Sussex in this time. During his time at Hove, Goodwin helped the county to seven major trophies, including three County Championships.
Despite Goodwin struggling for form last season, Glamorgan will be looking to the right-hander to score heavily in division 2 of the County Championship as they push for promotion. In 2012 Glamorgan could only record three championship victories.
Speaking of the arrival of Goodwin, Glamorgan’s head coach Matthew Mott said: “Murray has played the best part of his career at Sussex and had a massive affect on Sussex cricket, so we can’t wait to have him in the squad.”
