Adam Gilchrist hit 64* from 46 balls as the Kings XI Punjab beat Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets in today’s IPL match.

Batting first, the Chennai Super Kings were restricted to just 120-7 from their 20 overs due to some excellent bowling from the Kings XI. The pick of the bowlers was Parvinder Awana who picked up 2-12 from his allotted 4 overs.

Dwayne Bravo was the only Super Kings batsman to get going as he struck 48 from 43 balls including 3 sixes. The next top scorer was Suresh Raina who made 17 from 13 balls.

The second half of the innings was all about the former Australian wicket-keeper Gilchrist. Anytime the Super Kings bowlers were offline Gilchrist punished them in an innings that included 9 fours and 2 sixes. Gilchrist (64*) and Azhar Mahmood (9*) finished the game with 21 balls to spare as the Kings XI cruised home.

The victory means that the Kings XI are now just one place behind the Super Kings and they remain in contention for a place in the play-offs.
