Day 1: Tour match, Mumbai
India A 369-9 v England

It was a tough opening day for England on their tour of India, as they were made to toil in the Mumbai heat with Steven Finn picking up an injury.

It is currently unclear to the exact location and damage of Finn’s injury but he had to leave the field of play after pulling up when fielding on the boundary during his second spell of the day.

England will be hoping the Middlesex fast bowler can regain fitness in time for the first Test match as it was widely expected that Finn’s pace and bounce would be a key weapon against India’s batting line up.

The match itself proved a good test for England’s bowling line-up. Tim Bresnan was the pick of the bowlers taking 3-59 and there was also 3 wickets for England’s off-spinner Graeme Swann.

Manoj Tiwary top scored for the home side with a well-made 93 as he looked to impress the Indian selectors ahead of the first Test.

It was notable that England’s team included Nick Compton who was down to open the batting with captain Alastair Cook, with Jonathan Trott resuming in his customary number 3 position.
