Tour Match, Colombo
Day 3: England 272/4 & 360/6 beat Sri Lanka Development XI 431/6 & 199/4 by 4 wickets

In a thrilling final day run chase England beat a Sri Lankan development XI by 4 wickets in Colombo in their last warm up match before the start of the Test series.

England were set 360 to win on the final day of the match and reached this target with some ease. Matt Prior top scored for the visitors with an entertaining 84 from just 60 balls giving the innings the momentum it needed. There was also valuable half-centuries for Kevin Pietersen (52), Ravi Bopara (66) and Samit Patel (72).

Both Patel and Bopara will now await the decision of the England management as to who bats in the number 6 position, after Eoin Morgan was dropped for this tour.

Graeme Swann put the icing on the cake with a quick-fire 31 not out from just 12 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.

The first Test match gets underway on Monday in Galle, and England will be pleased with the progress their batsmen have made going into the match.

What a day of cricket it was. The weather is lovely out here and the cricket is brilliant. England look very good so I am expecting a good series.
