December 8, 2014

England has announced they shall be going with Alastair Cook as captain for the World cup.

James Whitaker England’s national selector had made it clear that Cook would be in charge despite questions about his leadership and form with the bat.

All the current squad in Sri Lanka is on the list plus James Anderson & Stuart Broad who are recovering from knee injuries in South Africa.

One noticeable miss is Jonathan Trott who was sent home on a tour of Australia from a stress related illness last year.

He has performed well in the domestic stuff with Warwickshire and has been by-passed by the England selectors this time around.

Six players are joining up Yorkshire them being Jonny Bairstow, Tim Bresnan, Adil Rashid, Jack Brooks & Gary Ballance joining Joe Root in the squad.

Surrey has a name on the list as well with Jason Roy. He is having an excellent year and very much deserves his place.
The England squad will be cut down to 16 before Christmas for the tri-series in Australia, of whom 15 are expected to form their final World Cup squad.
