Tour match (3 day match)
Day 1: Sri Lankan Cricket Development XI 376/5 V England

It was a tough day for England’s bowlers in Colombo as the Sri Lankan Development XI amassed 376/5 from 90 overs in sweltering conditions.

The most notable performance of the day was from Charma Silva who made a brilliant 163 from just 180 balls, including 25 fours and 1 six. Silva was well supported by half centuries from Thilina Kandamby (64) and Angelo Perera (61).

The pick of the England bowlers was Stuart Broad who returning from injury picked up 3/55 from 15 overs. Monty Panesar was rested ahead of the first Test, which left the spinning responsibilities to Graeme Swann (0-102) and Samit Patel (1-83) who failed to impress.

England will be hoping for 5 wickets in the first session of play tomorrow before settling into an afternoon of much needed batting practice.
