The one-day international between England and Scotland scheduled for 12th August at The Grange has been called off due to the wet weather.
The ground situated in Edinburgh has been hit by severe flooding this summer and a decision was made today that the playing surface would not recover in time and the wet outfield has also made it impossible for organisers to erect the temporary stands.
England have played matches before against Scotland in 2008 and 2010 at The Grange. Cricket Scotland hosted a match here last year for the travelling Sri Lankans.
Scotland had looked at alternative options and dates to stage the match but the tie has proved impossible to rearrange.
Scottish cricket Chief Executive Roddy Smith said “The build is only two weeks away and with an unsettled forecast for the remainder of July, we have had to make a decision based on the facts presented to us and the professional advice we have taken. We have been faced with an unprecedented and sustained period of rain that has, unfortunately, taken the season’s biggest game from us. ”
England are currently taking on South Africa in a three game Test match series starting today at The Kia Oval.
