Warwickshire have named Dougie Brown as their new head coach after Ashley Giles left the position in November to become England’s limited overs coach.

Brown has spent the last few seasons coaching the second XI at Warwickshire and takes over a side who are the current County Championship winners.

The 43 year-old fiery Scot is Warwickshire through and through, and spent his 15 year playing career with the county. Brown was born in Scotland in 1969, and made his debut at Edgbaston in 1992. In 197 first-class matches, Brown took 515 wickets and scored 8,066 runs in a glittering domestic career.

Brown was part of a very successful period in Warwickshire’s history in the 90’s, playing alongside the likes of Brian Lara, Ashley Giles and Dermot Reeve. The all-rounder has represented both Scotland and England at international level.

Brown’s first game in charge will come against newly promoted Derbyshire at Edgbaston on 10th April in the County Championship.
