CB series, Adelaide
India 270-6 (49.4 overs) beat Australia 269-8 (50 overs) by 4 wickets

MS Dhoni hit one of the shots of his career to help India to victory in the last over of their latest match against Australia in Adelaide.

Batting first, Australia posted 269-8 from their allotted 50 overs, in an innings that was largely built around David Hussey’s 72. Hussey was well supported by debutant Peter Forrest who made 66 from 83 balls.

Umesh Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers claiming 2-49 from 10 overs.

India’s run chase got off to a good start as opener Gautum Gambhir made 92 from 111 balls in an innings that included 7 fours. However, India lost their way towards the back end of their innings and found themselves requiring 12 from 4 balls with only 4 wickets in hand.

However, the good news for India was that their captain MS Dhoni was on strike. Clint Mckay bowled a pitch up ball to Dhoni that was smashed back over his head for one of the biggest sixes ever seen in Australia. Dhoni went on to secure the win with two balls to spare, and India have now won 2 out of 3 matches in the CB series.

Gautum Gambhir was awarded man of the match, but the turning point was Dhoni’s towering six. The India captain finished the match 44 not out.
