Liam Dawson has signed a new two year contract with Hampshire County Cricket Club.

Dawson, 22, was the youngest player in the history of the county to score a first-class century at the age of 18. In 2011 Dawson scored 908 first class runs, at an average 36. The right-handed batsman also contributes to the side with some part time left arm spin.

It was a disappointing year on the pitch in 2011 for Hampshire, who were relegated from division 1 of the County Championship after a final game draw with Warwickshire.

Speaking on BBC Radio Solent Dawson said: “The squad is young, but we’ve played a lot of cricket as a group. We’ve got a fair amount of experience and it is a time now where we’ve got to start winning games for this club. It is an exciting and new era for the club and we’ll be doing our best to get back into Division One.”
