County schedule confirmed

November 29, 2011

by Tim Rawle

The county cricket season in 2012 will make its earliest ever start, with the first round of Championship fixtures commencing on Thursday 5th April.

The first day of first-class cricket next summer will start on 27th March where the champion county Lancashire will take on the MCC in Abu Dhabi.

Lancashire don’t get their title defence underway until the 12th April where they face Sussex at Aigburth. Old Trafford will only host four LV County Championship matches this year as the ground continues its redevelopment work. Lancashire won the title for the first time since 1934 last year after playing no matches at their home ground of Old Trafford.

The CB40 trophy that Surrey captured in 2011 will commence on the 4th May with the final at Lords on the last day of the season on the 15th September.

The FL T20 gets underway on the 12th June and will culminate at The Swalec stadium in Cardiff on the 25th August.
