England fast bowler Stuart Broad has been ruled out of this seasons IPL as he continues his rehabilitation from a calf strain sustained during England’s tour of Sri Lanka.

The Nottinghamshire seamer was due to team up with the Kings XI Punjab franchise, before returning to England for a full summer of Test and one-day cricket.

Broad has missed out on the opportunity to compete in the lucrative tournament for a second successive year through injury.

Speaking about the injury Broad said on twitter: “Frustrated not to be able to go play in the IPL but important I get 100% fit for what is a massive summer in England. Thxs for the messages.”

England will be hoping that Broad will be fit for the first Test match against West Indies which gets underway at Lord’s on 17th May.

This maybe a blow to Broad but good news for England this summer. Rest up and get fit!
