Brit Insurance to end England sponsorship

Brit Insurance have today announced they will not be extending their deal with the England cricket team after their contract expires in early 2014 after the world Twenty20.

The decision has coincided with Brit’s decision to sell many of its British operations this year. Brit’s name and logo appears on all England’s playing and training kit at present.

Brit’s deal is estimated to be worth in the region of £18m with the ECB. Brit started their sponsorship in cricket by teaming up with Surrey, and The Oval was renamed as the Brit Insurance Oval during the time of this sponsorship.

John Perera, the ECB’s commercial director, said: “The ECB thanks Brit for what has been an important and successful partnership for both parties. Our search for a new sponsor will begin immediately and we anticipate significant interest from potential partners who wish to be associated with the England cricket teams.”
