Bresnan out for season

August 16, 2013

Tim Bresnan has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the lower back and his season is at an end. This is particularly galling for Bresnan, who this summer had re-established his place in the England’s test side following a spell out of the game with an elbow injury. He will miss the last test of the summer against Australia at The Oval, which starts on 21 August, and he won’t be available for any of the T20 or ODI matches which follow.

Bresnan bowled well in the tests at Lord’s and Old Trafford and then, with important runs and wickets, had a particularly good game in the fourth test at Durham. He must now concentrate his efforts on regaining fitness for the winter tour of Australia.

So it looks like Tim Tremlett will play at The Oval. Its a shame that the pitch there isn’t as pacy as it once was.
