Tim Bresnan is a doubt for England’s first warm-up match in the UAE on their tour to play Pakistan after struggling with an old elbow injury.

Ashes winner Bresnan, had surgery on his elbow at the end of November, and felt some discomfort in it during England’s first training session yesterday in Dubai.

The Yorkshire seamer has played an important role in the England team since coming into the side on Boxing Day at the MCG against Australia. Bresnan helped England regain the Ashes down under, as well as being a key part of England’s success in whitewashing India last summer.

With Bresnan a doubt this could open the door again for the likes of Chris Tremlett or Steven Finn to impress in the warm up match against an ICC Combined Associate and Affiliate XI starting on Saturday.

England play a further warm up match on January11th before their three Test match series with Pakistan which begins on the 17th January.
