Ian Bell has been left out of England’s one-day squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan in the UAE.

Bell has been replaced by Somerset’s Jos Buttler who had a successful tour of Sri Lanka with the England Lions that concluded yesterday.

Bell has a poor record in ODI cricket in recent times and also struggled to make an impact in the recent Test series with Pakistan. The Warwickshire batsman scored just 51 runs in six innings at an average of 8.50.

Uncapped Danny Briggs has been called into the squad and replaces Durham leg-spinner Scott Borthwick.

There is also a place for Tim Bresnan who returns to the UAE after missing the Test series with an elbow injury.

The series of matches will include four one-day international and three Twenty20 matches against Pakistan starting on 13th February.
