Perth, Third Test

Day 3: Australia 369 beat India 161 & 171 by an innings and 37 runs

Australia crushed India at the WACA in Western Australia, and in the process have secured a 3-0 series victory, with a game still remaining.

India have now lost 7 Test matches in a row on their travels, but more worryingly for Duncan Fletcher, it has been the manner in which they have been defeated. England and Australia have produced lively pitches in which the Indian batsman have been found wanting.

Going into the start of day 3, Australia need a further 6 wickets to regain the Border – Gavaskar Trophy, and they made light work of a fragile Indian middle order. Ben Hilfenhaus backed up his 4 wickets in the first innings with a further 4 in the second, in 18 testing overs. He was well supported by Peter Siddle who claimed 3/43.

Virat Kohli top scored for the visitors for the second time in the match as he made 75 from 136 balls.

India are a team that must blood new faces as they look to the future, and it is time for Duncan Fletcher to end some of the great careers of the Indian batsman, if they don’t themselves retire.
