1st Test: Hobart
Day 5: Australia beat Sri Lanka by 137 runs
Australia claimed a 1-0 lead in their three match Test series against Sri Lanka in Hobart, after bowling the visitors out on the final day of the match to claim victory.
Needing 393 for a fourth inning victory, Sri Lanka were eventually dismissed for 255 thanks to nine wickets from a combination of Mitchell Starc and Peter Siddle.
Starc claimed 5-63, and Siddle took his match tally up to 9-104 after a five wicket haul in the first innings. Siddle was named man of the match as he bowled with pace and accuracy throughout.
Kumar Sangakkara top scored for the visitors with a stubborn 63 from 226 balls, but he was the only Sri Lankan batsman to reach a half century.
Sri Lanka have now lost nine of their last eleven Test matches on Australian soil, and they will need a big transformation to turn things around for the second Test which gets underway on Boxing Day in Melbourne.
Usman Khwaja has been called up as cover for Australian captain Michael Clarke who is suffering from a hamstring strain. It is thought Shane Watson would lead Australia at the MCG if Clarke does not recover in time.
